Officers with the Kewanee Police Department responded to a stolen vehicle report on Friday, April 11, 2025. The vehicle, stolen in Peoria, was located in Kewanee by the owner in the 100 block of Payson Street. As police arrived, the suspect fled, leading them on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed on the Galva-Atkinson Blacktop, rolling multiple times before coming to rest on its roof, from which he fled but was quickly caught. Identified as 26-year-old Donald J. Shaw of Galva, he now faces charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and aggravated fleeing. Shaw is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for April 21, 2025, at 1 PM. Shaw was released on home confinement with GPS monitoring.
Donald Shaw is charged with Aggravated Flee to Elude (Class 4 Felony), Reckless Driving (Class A Misdemeanor), and numerous traffic violations.
