Illinois Valley Community College is set to celebrate its 59th annual commencement on May 17, 2025. This year’s keynote speaker is Nicki McVey, a nursing graduate and philanthropist, who will address approximately 200 participating students. In addition to the main ceremony, special events are scheduled in the following weeks to honor graduates from the paramedics, nursing, dental healthcare, and adult education programs. School officials note that this tradition highlights the college’s ongoing commitment to diverse educational paths and community growth. Graduates, families, and staff are gearing up for the milestone, which marks another chapter in IVCC’s proud history. The ceremony will be live-streamed at www.ivcc.edu/commencement

Ceremonies for nursing, dental, paramedic, and adult education completers are also scheduled in the coming weeks:
  • The first-ever graduation ceremony for paramedics will be on Thursday, May 8, at 6 p.m. in the Cultural Centre. Each paramedic will receive a certificate and a customized challenge coin. A total of 25 students are expected to graduate from day and night programs, two of the largest classes ever.
  • The Adult Education recognition will be at 6 p.m. on May 21 in the Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre.
  • The pinning ceremony for practical nurses will be at 5 p.m. Monday, July 14, in the Cultural Centre.
  • A pinning for dental assistant graduates is scheduled at 5 p.m. on July 31 in the Cultural Centre. Also at that time, dental hygiene students (who complete their program in December) will be awarded their white lab coats in a ceremony.
