Galesburg Firefighters Rescue Dog and Battle House Blaze on Lincoln Street

The Galesburg Fire Department responded swiftly to a house fire at 119 Lincoln Street just after noon on April 28, 2025. Crews arrived to find smoke billowing from the roof and the rear of the two-story, wood-framed home. Firefighters from all three city stations tackled the blaze, successfully rescuing a dog from the first floor before extinguishing the flames upstairs. One resident managed to evacuate on their own and was later transported to Saint Mary’s Medical Center, then airlifted to Rockford for further treatment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Emergency coverage was maintained by recalling off-duty personnel.
