The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire on East Main Street on May 15, 2025, just before 11 AM. Crews from all three city fire stations rushed to the scene, where they discovered smoke coming from a large shed at the rear of the property. Firefighters quickly entered the structure and managed to extinguish the flames found in the attic. No people or pets were inside, and there were no injuries reported. Additional off-duty personnel were called in to ensure citywide emergency coverage remained available. Officials have determined the fire was accidental. The attic sustained both fire and smoke damage.
