At OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center, exceptional nursing is being celebrated. Jodie Doddroe, MSN, RN, of the Emergency Department, has been honored as the 2025 DAISY Award winner. Recognized for her extraordinary care and rapid response during a critical incident, Jodie earned heartfelt gratitude from a patient’s family, who praised her compassion and unwavering advocacy. The DAISY Award, created to honor nurses who go above and beyond, is presented annually by a committee at OSF Saint Luke. The winner receives a special award and a banner in their department. More information and nomination forms are available at the OSF Healthcare Foundation website.

“Thank you, Jodie, for your very important and large part in saving my mom’s life. You left a huge impact on my family, and we are eternally grateful for you,” the nomination reads. She expressed heartfelt gratitude for Jodie, describing the many prayers of thanks lifted to God for her compassionate care and fierce advocacy.

“The way she stood up for my mom, the genuine care and concern, and constantly checking on both of us because she could tell I was emotionally charged – I have never met a more caring nurse in my life,” the nominator shared. “It was like she had known us her whole life.”

“We are privileged to be affiliated with the DAISY Foundation. Patients and families can recognize our nurses that go above and beyond to make them feel safe and cared for,” said Lisa Garcia, chief nursing officer at OSF Saint Luke.

The DAISY Award, now present in over 2,000 health care facilities across the United States and 14 other countries, celebrates exceptional nurses who provide remarkable care and compassion. Established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after his battle with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, the program honors nurses who, like those who cared for Pat and his family, go above and beyond in their work. Recipients are recognized with a pin, a certificate, a bouquet of daisies, the symbolic “Healing Touch” statue, and a banner displayed in their department, shining a light on their dedication and kindness.
