Update at 3 PM: Highway 78 is back open. Power has been restored to all but one house. Cornbelt is working to replace the pole and restore power to the one house. They said the plan is to have power back before dark. They believe the pole snapped in its own, likely due to age.
There are power lines down on Highway 78 north of Kewanee south of West State Road. The Kewanee Community Fire Department is on scene waiting for Cornbelt to arrive and cut the lines. Avoid the area and use an alternate route between Kewanee and Annawan. The closure is expected to remain for an extended amount of time
Northbound traffic turn right on 900 N and then left on 2720 East to Highway 78. Southbound traffic turn right on West State Road, or turn left on 2720 N and then right on 900 N.
There were no injuries according to the fire department.
