This Saturday, June 14th, Sheboygan Warning Systems will be in Kewanee to repair a weather siren located at Dwight Street and Emmons Avenue. The siren, one of the originals in Kewanee, has been experiencing lower volume due to a blower motor problem. Repairs will begin at 9 AM, and residents in the southeast area may notice occasional siren sound tests. Remember, outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people outside during severe weather, not those inside buildings. For accurate weather updates and safety, stay tuned to official reports and take appropriate action. Questions can be directed to the fire department at 309-852-2115.

According to the Facebook post by the City of Kewanee, “Residents are reminded that these sirens are intended to notify people who are outside that severe or dangerous weather is imminent. The sirens are not designed to be heard inside of every home, business or building. Residents are also reminded to remain vigilant in monitoring weather reports when severe weather is expected and to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families.”
