Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias has announced more than $700,000 in grant funding for libraries in the Quad Cities area. Over 350,000 residents will benefit as 73 public libraries receive funds for resources, programming, and new technology. While other states face federal budget cuts, Illinois is investing in its libraries, aiming to bolster learning opportunities for all ages. Alongside funding for books and digital resources, libraries will receive support for technology upgrades and accessibility improvements. The initiative underscores the state’s commitment to community development, education, and resisting national trends of library defunding and book bans.
