Celebrating its 49th consecutive year, the Hog Days Stampede registration is now open for the beloved race series, offering options for all fitness levels. Participants can choose from a four-mile run, a one-mile course, or a cheerful quarter-mile dash for children under seven. The event is open to athletes of diverse abilities, welcoming runners, walkers, wheelchair users, and those on crutches. Sponsored by Breedlove’s Sporting Goods, The Community State Bank, and The Chamber of Commerce, this annual race focuses on community and inclusion. Official entry forms are available through the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce website.
The four-mile run or fitness walk begins at 8 AM. Early registration costs $30, securing a newly designed T-shirt and entry into door prize drawings featuring Breedlove’s gift certificates and commemorative plaques. Following August 15th, registration rises to $35, and T-shirts are only available until August 26th. Runners who break course records will pocket extra cash, adding excitement to the friendly competition.
The countdown is on for the Hog Day Stampede in Kewanee, where excitement builds with the annual One Mile Run and Fitness Walk set to begin at 9:45 am. Pre-registered participants enjoy a $20 entry fee, a commemorative T-shirt, door prize opportunities, and gift certificates, while late registrants pay $25 and miss out on shirts after August 26th. Kids 7 and under can join the free Quarter Mile Fun Run at 9:30 am, with T-shirts for the first 300 entries. Awards for top finishers are provided by Pizza Hut. The certified, mostly flat course starts and finishes at the Kewanee YMCA, where participants can also enjoy post-race refreshments and shower facilities.
Kewanee Hog Days is right around the corner. The theme this year is “Pigs Just Want to Have Fun.” Hog Days runs from August 29 to September 1, 2025. You can purchase tickets early at the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce, Peoples National Bank, CSB North & South, Union Federal, and State Bank of Toulon, while supplies last, for $10 for 12 tickets. During Hog Days, tickets are $20 for a sheet of 20 tickets, or $1.25 if purchased individually.
