Talented butter sculptor Sarah Pratt is bringing a fresh exhibit, “Butter Horse and Bee,” to the Mississippi Valley Fair, set for daily display from July 29th to August 3rd, 2025. Pratt, who began sculpting at the age of 14, inherited her craft from renowned artist Norma “Duffy” Lyon at the Iowa State Fair. She now works alongside her daughters, Hanna and Grace, who also started sculpting at a young age. Her team shapes iconic displays at fairs across the Midwest, including the legendary Iowa State Fair Butter Cow. Notably, their creation will travel to the Smithsonian, highlighting state fairs nationwide. Their butter medium is kept at 42 degrees and reused from 1,200 pounds of salted butter.
