Kewanee prepares for a lively weekend next week as the Prairie Chicken Arts Festival launches alongside the annual Guns and Hoses Pancake Breakfast. The breakfast, held by the Kewanee Fire and Police Departments, or Kewanee Police and Fire Department, welcomes the public on Saturday, July 19th, from 7 to 11 AM, at the Johnson Appliance Parking Lot on North Chestnut Street. For $10, adults enjoy unlimited sausage and pancakes, with children under five eating free. Festival-goers can also take in art displays, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities, celebrating local talent and community spirit. The event is a unique chance to support area first responders and enjoy a festive gathering in downtown Kewanee. If you don’t eat pancakes and sausage, give a donation or bring the food to the Rotary Tent, and the Prairie Chicken Arts Festival organizers will happily enjoy the breakfast.
