    West to northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 45 to 55 mph expected, highest west-southwest of the Quad Cities.

    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.

    From midnight tonight to 9 AM CST Wednesday.
    IMPACTS
    Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, including holiday decorations. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    The very strong west to northwest winds may be accompanied by snow showers or periods of light snow resulting in reduced visibilities. Additionally, blowing and drifting snow is possible in open and rural areas, especially along and north of I-80 in eastern Iowa.

Galva Mayor Rich Volkert joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to discuss the Monday, August 4th, Galva City Council Meeting. Mayor Rich Volkert shared updates from the most recent City Council meeting. The council reviewed the appraisal for the Old Chevy building, discussing potential redevelopment opportunities. Anyone interested in the property should contact Galva City Hall. Members also gave the green light for the Park District’s application to the OSLAD Grant, which could bring significant improvements to local recreational facilities if awarded. Additionally, the council initiated discussions on revising zoning ordinances to accommodate future growth and address community needs. Galva has accomplished a great deal of lead line replacements and expects to be done before the 2029 deadline. Mayor Volkert emphasized that transparency and community input remain key components as these projects and discussions move forward in Galva. The September city council meeting has been rescheduled to September 8th due to the Labor Day holiday on September 1st.
