Kewanee Announces Fall Burn Days Schedule and Safety Guidelines for Residents

SHARE NOW

The Kewanee Fire Department has announced the return of fall burn days for residents during September, October, and November. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, burning of tree limbs, branches, and brush will be permitted if weather conditions are favorable—meaning minimal rain in the 48 hours prior and wind speeds within limits. Approval for each day will be confirmed by 8:00 AM on the city hall phone line at 309-852-2611 and posted to the city’s website. Residents must keep burn piles under four feet tall, at least ten feet from structures, and avoid accelerants, and they must monitor fires until out. For questions, contact the fire department’s non-emergency line at 309-852-2115.
