Galesburg residents should prepare for two scheduled infrastructure projects resulting in temporary road changes this month. On Friday, September 12th, the Whitesboro Street railroad crossing will close from 8 AM to noon as BNSF Railway crews perform essential repairs. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted detour signs and seek alternate routes during this period. Meanwhile, starting Monday, September 15th, sanitary sewer repairs at Knox and Elm Street will maintain at least one lane of traffic, with work scheduled around school hours near Lombard Middle School. These projects aim to finish within three days, with motorists advised to allow extra travel time.
The city appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during these necessary infrastructure improvements. For ongoing updates on road closures and construction projects, please visit the City of Galesburg website.
