Trivia buffs and natural history fans have a chance to make a real difference—and show off their smarts—at the Cambridge Natural History Museum’s Trivia Night on October 3rd. The competition takes place at 6 PM  at Bishop Hill Creative Commons in Bishop Hill, with tables for up to eight participants available for $100, or $12.50 per person. All proceeds support the museum’s $50,000 building fund, spearheaded by 11-year-old Anderson, which aims to secure a permanent home for this unique, youth-founded institution at 132 W. Center Street in Cambridge. To grab a spot, contact [email protected] or call 309-704-0110. It’s trivia fun for a meaningful cause!

I’ve been amazed by how much support we’ve received,” said Anderson Taylor. “People from all over have donated fossils, minerals, and artifacts to the museum, and I want to make sure these items are preserved and displayed for many years to come. That’s why owning the building is so important — it will make sure the museum has a permanent home.”

The Cambridge Fossil Museum, founded by 9-year-old Anderson in August 2024, has quickly become a vibrant hub for dinosaur fans and curious minds alike. Growing from just a single display case to eleven, the museum now attracts visitors nationally and internationally, regularly hosting school and daycare field trips. Community support is more important than ever as the museum seeks funds through events like trivia night. Proceeds will help secure a permanent home, restore the historic brick exterior, finish an upstairs rental, and create a new gift shop. Participants can enjoy a night of fun and help ensure the museum’s future.

Every dollar raised gets us one step closer to ensuring this museum can continue to educate and inspire for generations,” said event host Lance Camp. “It’s amazing to see what Anderson has accomplished at such a young age — and how his passion for natural history is bringing our community together.”

The Cambridge Natural History Museum, founded in 2024 by Anderson Taylor at just nine years old, has quickly become a global destination for those interested in the wonders of the natural world. What started as a humble community project now houses an impressive collection of fossils, minerals, and artifacts. The museum’s dedication to education and curiosity shines through its interactive exhibits and school programs, all aimed at sparking interest in science for people of all ages. Visitors are inspired not only by the displays but also by the story of its young founder, demonstrating that passion and commitment can make a world of difference.
