The Kewanee Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Saturday, October 18, 2025, on the 1700 block of Lake Street. Reported at 1:22 AM, crews arrived minutes later to find a two-story abandoned home fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly tackled the exterior flames before moving inside the residence. The property, vacant at the time of the incident, was declared a total loss after crews spent over three hours containing the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The cause remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what sparked the fire. The Kewanee Fire Department was assisted by the Kewanee Police Department, the Kewanee Community Fire Protection District, and the Annawan/Alba Fire Protection District.
