Illinois Valley Community College is offering a valuable workshop focused on guiding students and families through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid process. The session is designed to answer questions and help navigate the often-complex paperwork required for securing financial assistance for college. Attendees are encouraged to bring key documents, including their tax information, FSA IDs, and details on any untaxed income, ensuring a productive and efficient experience. This hands-on event aims to make higher education more accessible by clarifying the steps needed for financial aid, reducing stress for applicants seeking support for the coming academic year.

“The FAFSA can feel intimidating, but we are here to make it as smooth as possible,” said IVCC Director of Financial Aid Isamar Taylor. Participants also will receive an IVCC Bookstore gift card while supplies last.

On Wednesday, October 29th, high school seniors, current college students, and their families are invited to attend the session from 4:30 to 6:30 PM in the Academic Support Center, Room A201. Financial aid staff will offer one-on-one guidance, assisting attendees with their Free Application for Federal Student Aid forms. Visitors are encouraged to bring their 2024 tax information, Federal Student Aid IDs for both student and parent, and records of untaxed income to make the most of this opportunity.

“The FAFSA process has stabilized quite a bit compared to the last few years, but we are still encouraging students and families to start the process now. Completing it early helps students secure the most funding available and plan their education with confidence,” Taylor said.
