Girl Scout Troop 4444 is gearing up for their highly anticipated One Hour Power Hunt to collect 1,000 food items for the Kewanee Food Pantry tonight, October 28, 2025. Community enthusiasm has already provided a strong start, with generous early donations pouring in. “As of last night, we already had a small mountain of donations at the house thanks to the kindess of three amazing people. So thank you to Ken Westefer, Linda Blair, and Crystal Lewis Martin. Cosette Komnick was very excited to set it all up and get a good photo for us to share. To get started today with so many items is wonderful. So thank you for your support and for giving us a head start,” said Jacque Komnick. Scouts and volunteers will begin collecting at 5 PM, prioritizing safety and efficiency as they dash door-to-door across town. Organizers encourage everyone to keep donations dry due to expected rain and remind residents that quick stops are all part of this timed challenge. Additional contributions can be made via Venmo or dropped off at B & B Printing before 5 PM. Get your address added before 4:30 PM by commenting on the post or by messaging Jacque Komnick. The post from Jacque’s Facebook page is attached below, along with additional donation options.

Jacque Komnick said, “Those of you who know me, know that any time I am overwhelmed with emotion, especially positive emotion, I am moved to tears. Needless to say, I have been a hot mess over the last 24 hours. I am truly overwhelmed by the number of people who have reached out with positive comments, with addresses for us to add to our list, and also with venmo donations. I am so thankful that so many people in our community are willing to help those in need. Not only are you helping my Scouts make the world a better place, you are also showing them the power of community. For this I will always be thankful.”

Scouts and their drivers are hitting the streets earlier tonight to collect donations for the community pantry, as an overwhelming response has filled the address list. Residents on Central and Chestnut can expect visits starting close to 5 PM. Organizers emphasize safety, ensuring drivers don’t rush and that Scouts set the tempo for the evening’s collection. With so many homes to visit, the team will keep interactions brief—just a quick wave or a shout of thanks before heading to the next stop. This quick pace is all about ensuring that every donation is picked up and the pantry shelves are filled.

“Our drivers will not rush between stops, so our Scouts know that they set the pace for the event. So if our Scouts only give you a quick wave and yell thank you OR sneak up to your porch like ninjas and leave without you realizing they were there please do not take it as a sign of disrespect, it is more about getting to the next house in time so we can PACK THE PANTRY!”

With so many addresses on the pickup list, if you wish to donate, please consider the following options:

1. Make a VENMO donation! The Scouts will be shopping locally tonight after we are done with all of our pickups. Money donated for us to use to purchase items for the food pantry will be spent wisely, and we will have a BLAST doing so. The One Hour Power Hunt is one of our favorite events; the Scouts love running to all of the houses, but they also enjoy packing shopping carts with donations. So if you cannot get to the store prior to 5 PM, please consider donating via VENMO!

2. If you have yet to turn in your address, and you would like to donate, you can turn in any non-perishable food items with Lee Bailleu at B & B Printing—Kewanee, IL! They are open until 5 PM, and we will be picking up any donations that are dropped off at the print shop today shortly after 5 PM!

3. If you would like to be added to our address list, we can still add you. That being said, we ask that you give us your address prior to 4:30 PM. We have a ton of stops to make tonight, and I worry that if anyone sends their address after 4:30 PM, their comment or message might get missed. So please comment with your address sooner as opposed to later. The post to comment on with your address is attached here:
