Amid rising hardships caused by the recent government shutdown and reductions in SNAP benefits, many local families are finding it harder to put food on the table. In response, Mid American Buildings is expanding its Thanksgiving initiative, aiming to provide full holiday meals to 10 families in need this year—a significant increase from the single family helped last season. Community members are encouraged to nominate families, including their own, in confidence via messages or comments on their Facebook post. Organizers hope these gestures will strengthen community bonds and ensure everyone can gather around a full table this Thanksgiving.

Mid American Buildings said in a Facebook post, “Last year we started something special — we helped a local family enjoy a full Thanksgiving dinner. It was such an incredible experience that we knew we had to do it again. But this year, times are tougher for a lot of people. With the recent government shutdown and families struggling to get by, especially those who depend on SNAP benefits, we want to do more.”
