Lisa Janey from the Kewanee Food Pantry joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to discuss how the Kewanee Food Pantry operates, the items it needs, and to express gratitude to the community for its donations of much-needed food, money, and hygiene essentials. Wethersfield High School’s National Honor Society is cooking up community spirit this Friday during the football playoff quarterfinals. From noon to 2 PM, sweet treats will be on sale, with every dollar supporting the Kewanee Food Pantry. Along with the bake sale, students are offering Geese and Titans merchandise for donation. Looking to help another way? On Saturday, a drive-thru donation event in Good’s Furniture parking lot invites locals to drop off food and hygiene essentials from 11 AM to 2 PM. The Kewanee Public Library is also collecting donations through December 22nd. Small acts are making a big difference for neighbors in need.

The Kewanee Food Pantry is accepting online donations through the PayPal Giving Fund, a platform that ensures every dollar goes directly to support their mission. Unlike many donation services, this program charges no fees to either the charity or the donor, so contributions stretch even further. With your support, the pantry can purchase more supplies from food banks, maximizing the impact for community members in need. To donate, visit the PayPal Giving Fund online and select Kewanee Food Pantry. Every contribution helps provide essential groceries for local families and strengthens hunger relief efforts in the region.

Wethersfield High School is adding a sweet touch to football season on November 15th from noon to 2 PM. During the playoff quarterfinals, students from the National Honor Society, led by Abigail Cabada and Wavelynn Peart, are hosting a bake sale with a charitable twist. Every dollar earned from cookies, brownies, and other treats will support the Kewanee Food Pantry, helping families in need. Organizers say the initiative aims to unite fans and residents for a good cause, making Friday’s game about more than just football. Supporters are encouraged to stop by the bake sale table and contribute to strengthening the community.

Wethersfield National Honor Society members Parker Miskinis and Devon Horrie are hitting the field to play football, but are also selling Geese and Titans merchandise during the game. Each item is available for a donation—no set prices—thanks to generous contributions from community members. All funds raised will support the local food pantry during the holiday season. It’s a great chance to score unique gear, support a good cause, and cheer on the AW Titans as they challenge Lena Winslow. Don’t miss the action and the chance to give back!

Support for the Kewanee Food Pantry is underway this Saturday, November 15th, from 11 AM to 2 PM in the Good’s Furniture parking lot, right across from Coco’s. Li’l Miss Kewanee Ruby VanDeVelde and Mini Miss World Festival Queen Talia DeReu are leading a drive-thru drop-off event for canned goods, pasta, peanut butter, toiletries, paper goods, and even pet food. The Kewanee Public Library is inviting residents to make a meaningful impact this season by contributing non-perishable food items and monetary donations, all aimed at supporting the local food pantry. Contributions are being accepted at the library’s main floor circulation desk, starting November 11th through December 22nd. Among the top requested donations are canned meats, pasta, peanut butter, and personal care items such as toiletries. Organizers hope the drive will help ease the burden on community members facing food insecurity. Every donation, whether food or funds, will go directly to helping families in need this holiday season.

Organizers stress that behind every item is a neighbor, a friend, or a family making impossible choices. By coming together, even small gestures become powerful acts of hope. United, compassion becomes action—and this season, your donation could be the difference someone needs.

The Henry and Stark County Health Departments are extending their General Health and Thyroid Panel Blood Test special at First Choice Healthcare Clinics in Kewanee and Toulon through January 1, 2026. For $40 cash and a donation of non-perishable food, residents can receive a comprehensive panel, including cholesterol screening. Fasting is recommended for the best results. This offer is available until January 1 and serves as a valuable supplement to annual health check-ups. Food donations will support local pantries, helping those in need throughout the community.

Community health clinics in Kewanee and Toulon are now scheduling lab specials and annual health check-ups at both locations. Residents can call 309-852-5272 for the Kewanee clinic at 110 North Burr Boulevard or reach out to the Toulon clinic at 309-852-3115, located at 120 East Court Street.
