More than $9 million in new federal funding has been secured for the Rock Island Arsenal, supporting crucial modernization projects to equip the military for emerging national security threats. The investment includes $5 million for a forging equipment annex and $4.25 million for a weapons quality assurance and calibration facility at the Arsenal’s Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center. Congressman Eric Sorensen, a strong advocate for the Arsenal, played a key role in obtaining these funds through the FY26 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill. These upgrades will preserve jobs and enable continued technological progress at this vital defense site.
“The Rock Island Arsenal needs investments to continue modernizing and sustaining its important mission of defending our country’s national security,” said Congressman Sorensen. “This new federal funding will help the Arsenal remain competitive and ready to tackle the newest challenges confronting our military with the latest state-of-the-art technology.”
