    Very cold wind chills as low as 20 to 30 below.

    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central and southeast Iowa.

    Until noon CST today.
    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in 30 minutes or less. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

At Wethersfield High School, two remarkable students are making their mark both in and out of the classroom. Jesus Perez stands out with his strong leadership skills, academic excellence, and dedication to helping operate his family’s restaurant, Gustavo’s. Known for his resilience and work ethic, Jesus has set his sights on a future in engineering. Meanwhile, Addison Looney impresses peers and teachers alike with her outstanding character and involvement in numerous extracurricular activities. As a Black Hawk College dual credit student, Addison is preparing for a future in radiology, demonstrating reliability, respectfulness, and a commitment to success.

Jesus Perez:  Jesus is a leader at Wethersfield.  He receives excellent grades, has great character, and helps run his family’s restaurant “Gustavo’s.  He is an all-around Hard working student.  He plans on becoming an engineer.

Addison Looney:  Addison has outstanding character.  She is polite, respectful, reliable and so much more.  She is involved in several extracurriculars and is a Black Hawk College dual credit student.  She plans on going into Radiology.
