Julotta, a cherished Swedish Christmas tradition, returns to Bishop Hill State Historic Site this year. The nondenominational service begins at 6 AM on Christmas Day inside the historic Colony Church, built in 1848 by Swedish immigrants. Reverend Lisa Unger of Cambridge will lead the liturgy, with readings by Jonas Bjork and Reverend Rebecca Gearhart. Music will be provided by Ann Larson and Courtney Stone. Attendees can enjoy coffee and Swedish rusks in the Colony Church Museum following the service. The public is encouraged to wear warm clothing, as the church sanctuary remains unheated.
