OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee has been awarded its second ENERGY STAR certification from the Environmental Protection Agency. With an impressive ENERGY STAR score of 97, the hospital stands out as one of the most energy-efficient medical facilities nationwide. Officials highlight that the achievement represents a commitment to reducing energy use and cutting greenhouse gas emissions—benefiting both the environment and the community. Notably, these advancements have been made without compromising patient care. The recognition marks a milestone in sustainable healthcare practices, furthering the hospital’s reputation as a leader in responsible resource management.

“Improving the energy efficiency of our nation’s buildings is critical to protecting our environment,” said Cindy Jacobs, chief of the ENERGY STAR Commercial & Industrial Branch. “From the boiler room to the board room, organizations are leading the way by making their buildings more efficient and earning EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification.”

OSF Saint Luke has achieved an impressive ENERGY STAR score of 97, ranking it among the top 3% of energy-efficient buildings nationwide. Verified by strict performance data, ENERGY STAR-certified structures use 35% less energy and generate 35% fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to similar properties. This accomplishment follows dedicated efforts by local mission partners, who have driven efficiency without compromising comfort or daily function.
