Magnolia Man Identified in Fatal Grain Bin Accident on Granville Farm, Brother Rescued and Hospitalized

The Putnam County Coroner, Bob Cofoid, has identified Gary Bruch, 69, of Magnolia, as the victim of a fatal grain bin incident on a rural Granville farm. For unknown reasons, Gary Bruch entered the silo and died after becoming entrapped while unloading beans on the family farm. Bruch’s brother also became trapped while attempting to rescue his brother, Gary. A third person attempted to rescue both brothers until rescue services arrived. Emergency crews managed to free the brother, who was airlifted to OSF Saint Francis Hospital and later released. Bruch’s remains were taken to Bloomington for examination. The final cause of death remains under investigation, pending toxicology and further reports.
