Kewanee FFA members are making waves after excelling at last week’s Section 3 Illinois FFA State Degree and Proficiency Interviews. Out of nearly 150 interviews overseen by 45 volunteer judges, four students—Jack Anderson, Katy Carton, Emmalee Kilstrom, and Kelsey Scott—earned recommendations for the prestigious State Degree. Additionally, Kewanee’s talent shines in the Section 3 Proficiency Awards, with Tripp Rieker (Diversified Agricultural Production), Emmalee Kilstrom (Diversified Horticulture), Gunnar Carmichael (Environmental Science & Natural Resources Management), Katy Carton (Landscape Installation), and Remy Hicks (Outdoor Recreation) all advancing to the District 1 interviews, set for March 4th in Geneseo. Their dedication to excellence sets a strong example for the community and promises a bright future for local agriculture. “Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to your SAEs truly show. We are incredibly proud of you!”
Special recognition also goes to Kalleigh Gale, Jackson Price, Mikayla Ouart, Summer Simmons, and Isabella Guzman for their hard work on Supervised Agricultural Experiences. Credit goes to Lora Carmichael, the KHS Special Events team, Mr. Damron, and Tony for their vital roles in organizing such a successful event.
