Supporting Survivors and Preventing Sexual Violence During Sexual Assault Awareness Month

SHARE NOW

April marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), dedicated to shedding light on sexual violence and promoting prevention within our communities. Survivors often remain silent due to fear or shame, but campaigns like “Start by Believing” emphasize the importance of listening and supporting without judgment. Prevention efforts are strengthened through education, open discussions about healthy relationships, and fostering environments grounded in respect and consent. Throughout the month, residents are encouraged to participate in events, share resources, and challenge harmful misconceptions. By working together, our community can support survivors and remain committed to ending sexual violence for good. Visit Freedom House or the National Sexual Violence Resource Center for more information.
