The Step Ladder Tutoring Program, led by the Sunshine Community Services Center, has announced the cancellation of its traditional Easter Weekend Tag Days Fundraiser. Despite this change, the initiative remains dedicated to supporting middle school students at Central and Wethersfield Jr. High Schools, focusing on homework help, project guidance, test prep, and building academic skills. Since its start, the program has matched 82 volunteer tutors with 240 students in need. With continued demand for educational support, the group urges the community to participate in a new online fundraiser. Contributions can be made via debit, credit, or PayPal at www.sunshinecsc.com. Find more information on their Facebook page.

Shoppers at the local Save-a-Lot, 401 South Main Street, have the opportunity to make a difference by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar. All proceeds go to support tutoring services, snacks, school supplies, and essentials for local students. If you can’t make it in person, donations are also being accepted by mail at P.O. Box 405, Kewanee, Illinois 61443. Every contribution helps fund programs that run year-round for youth in our community. Organizers say that even small amounts can directly impact a student’s ability to succeed in school. Consider joining this effort to help local children thrive.
