Sterling Fire Department Responds to Residential Structure Fire.

 

At 9:01 Monday morning the Sterling Fire Department responded to a residentialstructure fire at 801 Avenue I.

Fire crews arrived on the scene at 09:04 and found Fire and smoke coming from the roofline of a split-level home. Neighbors reported the residents were at work.

Sterling Fire was assisted on the scene by the Rock Falls Fire Department, Sterling Police, CGH Ambulance Service, Dixon Rural Fire Department, Dixon City Fire Department, Milledgeville Fire Department, advance Ambulance Service, Com Ed, Nicor, The Office of State Fire Marshall, and Sterling Code Enforcement. Amboy Fire Department assisted by covering our station.

Firefighters initiated an interior attack and successfully extinguished the fire. No civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident. Three dogs were also successfully rescued from the home.

Fire damage was extensive throughout the attic and roof area. There was also moderate smoke damage on the top level of the home.

The Red Cross and 1-800-Board-up assisted the residents with after the fire support. For further questions, please contact the Sterling Fire Department.
