Work on Mississippi River Bridges Begins May 1st

 

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that work on three Mississippi River bridges in Rock Island, Whiteside and Carroll counties will begin Friday, May 1st.

The project will wash the following bridges:

  • Centennial Bridge (U.S. 67) in Rock Island
  • Gateway Bridge (U.S. 30) in Fulton
  • Dale Gardner Veterans Memorial Bridge (U.S. 52/Illinois 64) in Savanna

There will be daytime and nighttime lane closures controlled by flaggers. All work is expected to be completed by the end of July.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zone areas, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
