Postal mail carriers collected 3,600 pounds of food from Kewanee residents in the 2026 “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive

Kewanee’s annual food drive saw an impressive response this year, with local mail carriers and their families working extra hours to collect donations for the Kewanee food pantry. Volunteers reported weighing in over 3,600 pounds of food, evidence of the community’s generosity. Although some items had to be discarded due to being expired or damaged, organizers remain grateful. The contributions will help many families who rely on the pantry, and organizers thanked both the postal workers and the volunteers who dedicated their day to sorting and preparing the food. “Another huge thanks to our food pantry volunteers for all their work. It was a long day but well worth it. We weighed in over 3,600 pounds of donations then unfortunately had to dispose of a lot of outdated and damaged items. But we are grateful for our community’s response, knowing this food drive will assist so many.”
