Drive-by Parade on May 14th and Benefit on May 16th for Andrew Yarger this Week

A community benefit for Andrew Yarger is set for this Saturday, May 16th, at First Christian Church in Kewanee, kicking off at noon. Attendees can enjoy plates featuring pulled pork or sloppy Joes with sides of potato or macaroni salad and chips for $8. Organizers are seeking raffle item donations, with contributions accepted until the drawing Saturday evening. Volunteers are also needed to provide baked goods for a bake sale, and items like coffee cans or milk jugs will help with raffle logistics. Those wishing to help should reach out to Jen Yarger via “Facebook Messenger.” A drive-by parade will assemble at Abilities Plus on Thursday, May 14th, between 5:30 and 5:45, with a police and fire escort past Andrew’s home at 6 PM. Andrew resides in an Abilities Plus home and is the April 2026 Abilities Plus Achiever of the Month.

Donate at the benefit on Saturday or through the GoFundMe link below to make Andrew’s final days special

The family of Andrew is facing an incredibly difficult time after recently losing their father and is now preparing to say goodbye to Andrew, who was recently diagnosed with late-stage cancer. Andrew’s family has chosen hospice care to ensure he is surrounded by love in his final days. Andrew, known for his infectious laugh and kind spirit, has inspired those around him since he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a child. With the costs of two funerals looming, Jen and her siblings hope to ease the financial burden on their mother. The family is reaching out for support—donations and prayers—so they can spend precious time together and honor Andrew’s remarkable life and legacy. You can donate at the benefit on Saturday or at the “GoFundMe for Andrew” setup by Jen and her family.
