Henry County Coroner Melissa Watkins has confirmed the skeletal remains discovered in the waste holding tank in Northeast Park belongs to Daniel Cernovich

Authorities have identified the skeletal remains found at Northeast Park as Daniel J. Cernovich, age 47, who had been missing since November 18, 2022. The identification was confirmed by Henry County Coroner Melissa Watkins.

According to the official press release, “Preliminary autopsy findings indicate there was no evidence of tool markings or intentional dismemberment, and no gross antemortem blunt force or penetrating trauma.”

A more detailed forensic anthropology evaluation is still pending. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Kewanee Police Department’s Investigations Division at 309-853-1911. Updates will be provided as new information emerges.
