Dixon’s signature summer celebration is ready to bloom, as the Petunia Festival kicks off this week with music, community pride, and patriotic tradition. Excitement is building around a headlining performance from 1990s rock favorites Gin Blossoms.
The Dixon Municipal Band will also present its annual patriotic concert Friday, July 3rd, at 7 p.m. on the lawn of the Old Lee County Courthouse. Directed by Jon James, the concert will feature traditional military salutes, a public sing-along, and the debut of “USA-250! March,” honoring America’s 250th milestone celebrations. Local saxophonists James Cocar and Blake Ferguson-Allen will also perform solos.
