Prairie Chicken Arts Festival Chalk Art on July 17th and 18th
Kewanee’s Prairie Chicken Arts Festival is inviting artists to turn pavement into a canvas during its Chalk Art Festival, July 17th and 18th, 2026, near the old go-kart track west of the Amtrak Train station in downtown Kewanee. Categories include professional, amateur, and youth divisions, with prizes ranging up to $400. Registration is recommended through “Eventbrite“ via the “Prairie Chicken Arts Festival” Facebook page or by emailing [email protected]. Fees include chalk and a tote bag. Artists may begin Friday at 8 AM and must finish by 3 PM Saturday. Awards will be announced at 4 PM in the white Kewanee Rotary tent.
The Kewanee Prairie Chicken Arts Festival is inviting chalk artists of all ages to take part in this year’s colorful competition. Youth categories include ages 5 to 7, 8 to 10, 11 to 13, and 14 to 17, with adult amateur and professional divisions also available. Team entries are welcome, though individual registration fees apply. Fees are $50 for professionals, $35 for amateurs, and $10 for youth, with chalk and tote bags included.
