Area Basketball Coaches Nominated as Coach of the Year 2026

The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association has announced its Coaches of the Year honorees. Jayse Heitzler from Annawan Grade School is recognized for his leadership with the Annawan boys’ basketball. Todd Hansen at Wethersfield High School in Kewanee is celebrated for excellence in girls’ basketball. Lexi Demott of Galesburg High School receives honors for her outstanding work with the Galesburg girls’ basketball team. Ryan Wetzell from Orion Middle School is also acknowledged for guiding the Orion girls’ basketball team. All four educators will be officially recognized at the annual Coach of the Year Luncheon, set for Saturday, May 2nd, at CEFCU Arena.
