Black Hawk College East Campus made history on February 22, 2026, as two honorary organizations joined forces for a special induction event. Delta Alpha Pi, chartered on September 4, 2024, is dedicated to recognizing outstanding students with disabilities, welcomed five new inductees, and awarded graduation cords to three of its members. Phi Theta Kappa, the nation’s leading honor society for two-year colleges, also inducted six students for academic excellence and service. Notably, students Mia Merkel and Ella Yurschak were inducted into both societies, highlighting academic achievement and diverse impact. Advisers Jen Holldorf and Georgjean Pitsoulakis supported the proceedings. The event reflects the campus’s commitment to inclusion and excellence.
At a recent ceremony, Delta Alpha Pi welcomed five new inductees into its honor society. Mia Merkel, Alexis Morris, Areyes Scoles, Brieann Spoerlein, and Ella Yurschak were among those celebrated for their academic achievement and leadership. In addition, current members Danielle DeDecker, Morgan Heath, and Jena Higon received their honor cords, which they’ll proudly wear at graduation to signify their accomplishments. The event was guided by advisors Jen Holldorf and Georgjean Pitsoulakis, highlighting the continued support and recognition for students excelling despite challenges. The ceremony marked a special milestone for all involved.
