The Braveheart Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) Superhero 5K and Kids’ Fun Run arrives in Kewanee on April 18th, celebrating every child’s inner hero. Organizers encourage the entire community, including homeschoolers, to participate and raise awareness for child abuse, sexual assault, and mental health. Register here for the Superhero 5K. The day’s activities begin at 9:00 AM with a community resource fair, followed by the 5K run/walk at 10:00. At 11:00, children can enjoy a complimentary Kids Fun Run, which starts after the final 5K participant crosses the finish line. For more information, email [email protected], visit their Facebook page, or donate on the website. To find more information about services provided by Braveheart CAC and ways to help, visit here.

Several local cafes are teaming up to shine a spotlight on Child Abuse Prevention Month by serving blue-themed drinks throughout April. Country Morning Coffee, Krans Kafe, Parlor Coffee and Cream Company, and The Coffee Hub are all participating in the effort, donating proceeds from special drink sales directly to Braveheart Children’s Advocacy Center. Organizers say the signature blue drinks are designed to spark conversations about child protection while supporting vital services for young victims. Customers are encouraged to stop by their favorite coffee spots and support the cause, one cup at a time, throughout the month.
