Colona Man Identified After Body Recovered from Green River

Authorities have identified the man pulled from the Green River in Colona on Monday morning. According to the Colona Police Department, 30-year-old Charles Ables of Colona has been identified as the man found in the river. The investigation is ongoing but authorities do not suspect foul play with Mr. Ables death. “The City of Colona and responding agencies extend their condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Ables during this difficult time,” said Chief Clinton Powless.

Authorities in Colona responded to a call about a loose dog at the Nancy Trailer Court just before 11 AM on Monday, February 23, 2026. When officers began searching for the dog’s owner, they discovered a deceased man in the nearby Green River. Emergency crews, including the Colona Fire and Police Departments, began recovery efforts, bringing in additional responders and equipment. The body was recovered shortly before 1 PM.
