A devastating fire engulfed a garage and shed on Wilbur Street in Kewanee this past Friday, January 3rd. The blaze, reported by a passing motorist around 2:45 PM, led to a swift response from the Kewanee Fire Department. Despite their efforts, both structures are a total loss. Fire Chief Stephen Welgat said they are unable to definitively determine the cause of the fire due to the severity of the damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire did not spread beyond the initial structures.
