Galva Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Possession of Child Pornography

Mason J. Cavanagh of Galva has been sentenced to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to three counts of Possession of Child Pornography in Henry County Court. The investigation, initiated by information from Homeland Security Investigations, led to Cavanagh’s arrest on January 28, 2026. Authorities executed searches of his residence and vehicle, uncovering evidence. The sentence includes consecutive five-year terms for each count, mandatory supervised release, fines, and sex offender registration upon release. All remaining counts were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

The Galva Police Department was assisted by the Kewanee Police Department, Moline Police Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Forensic and Investigations Divisions.
