February 9
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4 th Street to assist a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
Officer went to a residence in the 100 block of NW 8 th Ave for a city ordinance violation involving junk and trash scattered around the property.
Officer went to the 500 block of SW 7 th Street to attempt to locate a wanted subject. As the result, Patrick Hammons, 69, Galva, was arrested on a Henry Co warrant for failing to appear on the charge of driving while license suspended, no insurance, and speeding. He was taken to the Henry Co Jail.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 1000 block of SE 2 nd Street, Ruby Brodrick, 35, Gerlaw, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of North Exchange Street for a sick or injured raccoon in the roadway. The raccoon was deceased upon officer’s arrival.
February 10
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of North Center Ave for a theft and criminal trespass to residence complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4 th Street to assist a resident that appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 2 nd Ave for a suspicious vehicle complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4 th Street for a neighbor dispute.
Officer was dispatched to the 2100 block of Trolly Road for a prowler complaint. Officer checked the area and was not able to locate anyone.
Officer was dispatched to the north edge of town to watch for a reckless driver that was reportedly coming towards Galva. Officer did not locate suspect vehicle.
February 11
Officer spoke to a subject by telephone about an incident involving a minor injury that occurred several months ago.
Officer was dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the 300 block of Market Street. The vehicle struck a building, causing moderate damage.
Officer checked on a disabled vehicle that was reported several miles east of town. It had been removed.
February 12
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4 th Street to assist a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
Officer was again dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4 th Street to assist a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of East Division Street for a neighbor dispute.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 4 th Street after multiple 9-1-1 calls were placed for a non emergency. As the result, John Kurzeja, 45, Galva, was arrested for disorderly conduct-false police reporting and false reporting to a public service agency. He was taken to the Henry Co Jail.
Officer was dispatched to north of the Galva city limits on the Galva-Atkinson blacktop for a car vs deer accident with damage only. A crash report was completed. The deer did not survive.
February 13
Officer, along with Stark Co Medic, were dispatched to a residence on SE 1 st Street for an unresponsive person complaint. There were no signs of life. The Henry Co coroner was contacted.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4 th Street to assist a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 6 th Ave for a loose dog complaint. The owner was located and the dog was returned.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of NE 1 st Ave for an illegal burning complaint after a large fire was seen in the backyard.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of SW 3 rd Street for a verbal domestic disturbance between siblings.
February 14
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SW 1 st Ave for a verbal domestic disturbance.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 0block of NE 2 nd Street for a water supply line ruptured in the house. The Galva Water Dept was contacted and was able to shut the water off.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 5 th Street for a loose dog complaint. Officer was not able to locate it.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NW 5 th Ave for a welfare check on a suicidal subject.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 2 nd Ave for a loose dog complaint. The dog was located and returned to it’s owner.
February 15
Officer assisted Henry Co with a forcible detainer / eviction in the 400 block of SW 4 th Ave.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of SE 2 nd Street for a missing person complaint. The subject was located in Knox Co.
Officer was dispatched to the north edge of town to monitor a high speed vehicle pursuit that was leaving Kewanee on Page St. The suspect vehicle crashed on Page St at Galva-Atkinson blacktop. Galva officer responded there and assisted Henry Co with their arrest.
