January 19
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of SW 2 nd Ave for an animal neglect complaint. The complaint was unfounded.
Officer met with a resident at the Galva PD to update their yearly sex offender registration. A completed form was emailed to Henry Co for LEADS entry.
Officer was dispatched to the east edge of town for a reckless driving complaint coming towards Galva.
Officer observed the suspect vehicle speeding and made a traffic stop. As the result, Madelin DeJesus, 50, Galva, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a BAC over .08%, unlawful possession of adult use cannabis in an unauthorized container, and speeding. She was taken to the Galva PD for processing and later released with a required Henry Co court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 6 th Ave for an animal cruelty complaint.
January 20
Officer was notified about a vehicle repossession taking place in the 200 block of NE 3 rd Street.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 5 th Street for a complaint involving identity theft.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 6 th Ave for a verbal domestic disturbance involving brothers.
While patrolling, officer saw a freight train coming to a stop and blocked several crossings. Officer directed traffic for over an hour and eventually it moved along.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Swank Street for a criminal damage to property complaint.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NW 5 th Ave for a welfare check. The subject was fine.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 4 th Street for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. It was determined to be a mis dial.
January 21
Officer was flagged down about a garbage truck that had fallen through the roadway in the 400 block of NE 1 st Street. The Galva Water Dept placed barricades in the affected area.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of NW 1 st Ave for a 9-1-1 hang up complaint. It was determined to be a pocket dial.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of SW 2 nd Street, Shannon Ray, 43, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 8 th Street for an attempted burglary from a vehicle. This case remains under investigation.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to discuss child visitation concerns.
Officer assisted Stark Co Medic at a residence on SW 2 nd Street after a subject took too much medication accidentally.
January 22
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SW 1 st Ave for a domestic disturbance.
Officer met with a resident at the Galva PD to discuss a neighbor’s aggressive dog.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 6 th Ave for a civil property dispute.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to fingerprint them for a potential job opportunity.
Officer met with a Galva juvenile and a parent in reference to follow up from a car burglary and trespassing complaint received the prior day. As the result, a 14 year old Galva juvenile was issued a juvenile referral for burglary to a motor vehicle and criminal trespass to property. The juvenile was then released.
Officer assisted Henry Co with a death notification on SW 3 rd Street.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 2 nd Ave for a loose dog complaint.
January 23
Officer was dispatched to assist Henry Co with an activated burglar alarm west of town.
While patrolling, officer noticed a train had stopped and was blocking several crossings. BNSF was contacted and the train eventually moved along.
Officer, along with Stark Co Medic, were dispatched to a residence on NW 2 nd Ave for two suicidal subjects.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NW 4 th Street for a utilities complaint. A water line had frozen and burst. The Galva Water Dept was contacted and was able to shut water off to the residence.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 1 st Ave for a loud music complaint. The resident was advised to turn it down.
January 24
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of SW 2 nd Ave for a motorist assist for a subject that had ran out of fuel and had a dead battery. Officer was able to assist them.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 7 th Ave for a residential burglary complaint. This remains under investigation.
January 25
Officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of NW 3 rd Ave for a suspicious person complaint. The suspect was gone upon officer’s arrival.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of NW 7 th Street for an aggressive dog complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4 th Street for a barking dog complaint.
