Attorney Greg Sticka has been appointed as an Associate Judge of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, following a vote by the circuit judges to fill the vacancy left by retired Judge Michael C. Jansz. The appointment was authorized by the Supreme Court of Illinois, and a formal swearing-in ceremony will be scheduled. Sticka brings extensive experience, having served as Chief Deputy State’s Attorney in LaSalle County and, most recently, as Assistant State’s Attorney. Sticka expressed gratitude for the opportunity, vowing to serve citizens with integrity and compassion, honoring the legacy of his predecessor. Sticka is married with two children.

Greg Sticka, a Green Bay native and Ashwaubenon High School graduate, has built a notable legal career spanning several decades. After earning his political science degree from UW-Madison and his law degree from DePaul University in 1997, Sticka began practicing in Illinois. He joined the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office, eventually serving as Chief Deputy State’s Attorney for a decade. In 2022, Sticka became First Assistant State’s Attorney in Bureau County before returning to LaSalle County last year. He remains actively involved in the legal community as a member of the LaSalle County Bar Association.

Upon learning of his appointment, Mr. Sticka had these comments: “It is a tremendous honor to be appointed to the position of Associate Judge. I am grateful to the Circuit Judges and the Illinois Supreme Court for this opportunity to serve and for the confidence placed in me. I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of the 13th Judicial Circuit and am committed to respectfully upholding the responsibilities being entrusted to me. I hope to continue to serve with the integrity and compassion brought to this role by my predecessor. Judge Michael Jansz.”
