Hammond-Henry Hospital has introduced the Supporting Professionals through Accountability, Resources, and Knowledge (SPARK) program, a new initiative designed to bolster the local healthcare workforce. Participants in SPARK receive full tuition assistance and paid clinical hours, along with a guaranteed job upon graduation. The program is open to aspiring nurses, laboratory staff, and athletic trainers, helping them pursue medical careers without taking on student debt. In return, participants commit to four years of employment at the hospital after graduation. Applicants must be at least 18, align with the mission to improve community health, maintain a 2.75 GPA, work a minimum of 24 hours monthly, and provide references. SPARK aims to address workforce shortages while removing financial barriers for students, helping them start careers without debt. Details are available at hammondhenry.com.
“We want to go beyond traditional scholarships,” Erica Huffer said. “SPARK helps students build skills, gain experience inside our organization, and begin their careers without financial burden.”
The final academic year features supervised, hands-on training. After graduation and licensure, participants commit to four years of full-time employment. Interested individuals may contact Erica Huffer at 309.944.9166 or via [email protected].
“It’s truly a wonderful program to get the degree you desire and complete school with no debt while also giving something back to the community,” Huffer added.
