Illinois State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Princeton on May 10th. Authorities from the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office and Princeton Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 2700 block of East Street, where a subject reportedly held several people, including juveniles, hostage. Officers entered the home, and shots were fired, resulting in injuries to the suspect and one juvenile. Illinois State Police secured the perimeter but entered the residence after the gunshots to provide medical aid. The injured juvenile was taken to a local hospital but did not survive. The suspect also received medical attention for gunshot wounds. The investigation remains ongoing, and the investigation findings will be turned over to the Bureau County State’s Attorney’s Office.
