Illinois State Police District #7 Safety Officer, Trooper Jason Wilson, visited Kewanee High School’s Summer Driver Education Class on June 11th. Wilson spoke to students about crucial safety topics, focusing on the importance of wearing seat belts. To drive the message home, students participated in a hands-on demonstration using the seat belt convincer—a special device simulating a low-speed crash at just 5 to 7 miles per hour. Participants experienced a jolt similar to a real collision, emphasizing how vital seat belts are for saving lives, even at slow speeds. The demonstration left a strong impression on the class.
