Illinois Valley Community College’s vocal and instrumental ensembles are set to wrap up their seasons with a trio of concerts next week at the Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre. Free to attend, performances begin Monday, April 27th, with the Choir presenting works like “The Last Words of David” and “Simple Gifts,” celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. The Jazz Ensemble takes the stage Tuesday, April 28th, spotlighting classics such as “Get Smart” and “Stars and Stripes Forever,” featuring several student soloists. The series concludes April 30th as the Wind Ensemble, under conductor Phil Whaley in his final concert, performs pieces by Gould, Marquez, Grieg, Grainger, and Nowlin.
