Interstate 80 in Bureau County is set for major repairs starting Monday, March 30th, stretching 14 miles from west of the Illinois 26 interchange in Princeton to west of the Illinois 89 interchange in Ladd. Crews will mill and resurface both the interstate and key ramps, working in two 7-mile phases. Western segment work kicks off first, aiming to wrap up by Memorial Day weekend, then shifting east. Expect lane reductions but full access during holiday weekends. Nighttime ramp work may bring temporary closures. Drivers should follow signs, respect speed limits, and remain alert.

Major improvements are underway on Illinois highways as part of the Rebuild Illinois initiative. Drivers should be prepared for changing conditions, adhere to posted speed limits in work zones, and stay alert for construction workers and equipment. Over the next six years, IDOT will address over 7,100 lane miles and expand or repair 8.4 million square feet of bridge deck, backed by a $33.2 billion investment. Since the program began, more than 21,000 lane miles, 815 bridges, and over a thousand safety upgrades have already been completed.
