Kewanee High School proudly hosted the 2026 IHSA State Music Organizational Contest last weekend, welcoming top choirs and bands from across the region. Over two days, music filled the halls as schools like Rock Island, Princeton, Sherrard, Annawan, and many others competed for state championships. After inspiring performances and strong competition, Kewanee High School achieved top honors, earning the title of IHSA 2026 State Music Champions for Class 1A for the third consecutive year. Congratulations go out to the talented students, dedicated directors, and all participating schools for their hard work and passion displayed during this musical celebration. The Kewanee Police Department escorted the Kewanee High School Band and Choir for a victory lap from the high school to Kewanee Wal-Mart on Sunday afternoon.
Cambridge, Henry Senachwine, Ottawa, Rock Island, Princeton, ROWVA, Bureau Valley, Sherrard, Mercer County, and Washington schools competed for the championship on Friday. Kewanee competed against Annawan, Riverdale, Mendota, Monmouth-Roseville, Orion, Rockridge, LaSalle-Peru, and United Township on Saturday.
